It has become a trend among companies to search criminal records of any prospective employee before confirming an offer of employment. The reason for this trend is that companies need to be reassured that the person they take on is genuine and has a clean criminal record. Most companies spend a lot of time and financial resources in training and orienting a novice, which would be wasted if it was found at a later date that he or she had a criminal records background.
